Chatpata Moong
Nutritious green moong preparation with simple spices - a protein-rich dish popular in Maharashtra.
Preparation
Soak green moong dal overnight.
Cooking
Boil the soaked dal in 1/4 cup water along with salt and turmeric for 6-8 minutes (covered) or till done. Drain water and keep aside
Dal should be soft but remain intact.
Heat oil in a pan, to it add asafoetida and chopped green chillies. Fry for 30 seconds
Add chopped onions and fry (approx 2-3 minutes) till soft.
Then add tomato and fry for 1-2 min.
Add boiled dal, and garam masala powder. Fry for 2 minutes.
Add chopped cilantro (dhonepata) and mix for a minute and remove from heat.
Add lemon juice and serve.
This lentil is best served with roti/chapati.
